Handle filtering of velocity templates

Description

I think it could be quite useful to be able to replace variables or even handle complete templates (like velocity ones) when generating the site.

Currently I'm using the ant copy task with filtering and then calling xsite. Being able to do so directly in xsite would be nice.

Can you please elaborate more on your usecase?
Can you provide as an example the type of filtering you need and the kind of configurability you'd like?
It would help to have a concrete problem at hand to solve.
