    • Status: Analysis Analysis
    • Priority: Critical Critical
    • Resolution: Unresolved
    • Affects Version/s: UDIG 1.1-SC1
    • Fix Version/s: UDIG 1.4.1
    • Component/s: database
    • Labels:
      None
    • Environment:
XP, uDigAug17, MySQLServer4.1 (that is where the databases are though I do have 5.0 as well)

      Description

When trying to add data to a map via MySQL, once you enter host, username, and password information, the interface will constantly try to connect to the database (the statusbar as well as the back, next and finish buttons at the bottom will continually flash), but never truly connect. It will show your databases, and after a few seconds (less than 30) it will stop trying to connect and look like it worked properly (I assume) but as soon as you attempt to choose a different database (I have a couple) it tells you , "No operations allowed after connection closed." at the top of the gui interface. If instead you simply try to click next you will be given the message, "Connection parameters are invalid."

I have not yet tried a database in MySQLServer5.0 (or 5.1) nor have I tried only having one database. Also I know the databases can be accessed because I am able to do so via JDBC using Eclipse.

Okay I have confirmed this issue (or something related to it on SC-1(which is what you are using right)) I appears to have something to do with the initial settings being invalid. I'll see if I can make a fix to is soon.

I made a quick and fix to the mysql code on reversion 30761. This should make the wizard usable now. However you might have some trouble typing in the database name as the text keeps getting selected.

I am now able to connect to a database and successfully add a layer from MySQL.

Now I found an issue, though I'm not sure if it's related to the plugin or not... nevertheless, when you try to look at the resource summary for any data, the values there are not updated if you change a currently used table, even if you remove it and put it back in. They will however update if you exit the uDig application and open it back up. (Should I create a whole new issue for this?)

MySQL should now be available using the jdbc-ng datastore implementation; the generic datastore wizard will allow you to connect.
Only glitch I could think of is making sure the jdbc jars are available?
