File/Close Project broken

Stephen Kilburn added a comment - 18/Mar/09 12:18 PM I hate to be a pain in the butt about this, but re-defining a File > Close operation so that it does not remove the target object from an application makes it inconsistent with any other application I can name that implements such an operation. File > Open Project (correctly) opens a persisted project. The project shows up in the Projects view. File > Close Project should be the reverse. It should check to see if all elements of the target project have been persisted, prompt asking if they should be if they haven't, then remove all reference to the project from the application. In short, it should do what right-click > Delete > (uncheck "Delete from file system") does. Maybe the operation as it stands, which might be called more correctly "Close Project Tree", is useful, but if retained as it stands it is not a file operation and shouldn't be on the File menu, but rather on the Project context menu.

Silvia Franceschi added a comment - 17/Jul/09 6:20 AM Add an option to the Project menu to close projects. Same thing should be done if Delete has not checked the delete from hard drive.

Close project should close all the related Maps and leave the project in the Project view. Delete project if not from the hard disk should close all the related Maps and delete the project from the layer view.
