On table open, warning dialog is useless

Description

When switching to the table view, a dialog opens warning the user that uDig will put all features in memory. Since there's no "Cancel" button, the dialog is painfully useless.

If such a dialog is to be of use, it must allow users to cancel the operation.

The dialog looks more of an informatory than one providing options. Upon clicking the 'ok' button the user has the option to cancel, in case they are no longer interested, or experiencing difficulties.

I find it okay.

I agree with Adrian, since there is not the Cancel button the dialog is useless.
Alternatives:
1. remove the dialog
2. add the Cancel button

This too has caused me isses on a few occasions so I have added a cancel button to the dialog

At the moment when the user canels the dialog the view remains open with no features. Maybe we should try to close the view?

Thanks for that fix Emily.

Here is how I would provide this warning in a pretty way - (I hate this dialog because it pops up when you go Window > Show View > Other. The dialog warns you before evening listing the Table view in the dialog of all views!)

I would fix this by:
1. making a pagebook
2. having one page be this warning
3. have the other page be the table that is willing to load all features

I think there is some kind of check box people can hit to choose between showing everything and showing the just the selection? We only really want to show this warning when the table view is set to display the entire contents.

Finally Query in GeoTools finally has the ability for "paged" content; allowing us to actually fix this bug.

I find Jody's hints useful but will add a wish.

If you press Cancel nothing will be displayed in the Table view and if you want to see something or have the message again you have to restart uDig. Is it possible at this time add the warning every time one clicks on the Table view? Just when one selects "Don't show this message again" the set should be saved.
