We're thinking that tables that have multiple geometry columns will be mapped to multiple resources/layers. So this would not be a problem.

Ahhh, but they aren't, so it is a problem. :) You got the right idea tho.

Right now this can be handled by editing the XML in the advanced style dialog page; we could add a combo box to allow the user to choose between the available geometry attributes (just like we allow them to "force" a generic geometry to be point line or polygon).

This would be a relatively quick change.

This is is now fixed and committed as of -r31162; however I am not sure how to get this in the hands of a tester without making another release?
