Description

the key of the uninitVar cpp violation in sonar is uninitvar. (a case mismatch)
cppcheck output: uninitVar
sonar rule: uninitvar

I just saw that there are some files cppcheck_oldv[1,2,3].xml which contain the key with correct case.
I dont understand this, i am using cppcheck 1.4.7, the latest i can get from http://sourceforge.net/projects/cppcheck/.

cppecheck rule extraction show that both can occurs : uninitvar and uninitVar, see http://svn.codehaus.org/sonar-plugins/trunk/cxx/src/main/resources/tools/cppcheck_rule_inventory_24112010.txt

But i m not sure sonar rule catalog is case sensitive

But just figure that cppcheck doesn't provide any rule catalog. Our rule inventory came from a whole cppcheck source parsing, which show us few mistakes in error name convention.

I've create a groovy script to parse rule catalog of cppcheck (cppcheck --errorlist).
And effectively, the two are correct.

Anyway the two keys are ambiguous :

  • uninitvar : check for non allocated variable in any method
  • uninitVar : check for non allocated variable in Constructor
