SONAR-3121 fixes this issue.

Note that this improvement will be visible only when working with Sonar 3.2+.

I'm reopening this ticket as SONAR-3121 is a valuable improvement but when working with the sonar runner it could be even more useful to get an error message as soon as a source directory doesn't exist.
