Description

Hi all,
I'm not sure whether my issue is directly related to http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/SONAR-1529 (which is a improvement request)

The problem we face is that I would like to export a findbugs configuration with priorities and reuse those in another Sonar instance...

Are there plans for enhancing this?

To export the profile from one instance to an other, you should use backup, not permalinks.

thanks for your reply.

My use case is not only to move one profile from one Sonar instance to another. Here the backup feature would work fine.

It's also about exporting only the findbugs configuration (with priorities) out of Sonar, that it can be used e.g. in the findbugs eclipse plugin. The perma links for checkstyle and pmd provide the feature to consider also the priorities, but the findbugs configuration remain there without priorities.

Is there anything planned to consider for the exported findbugs configuration also the priorities?

You're right - findbugs.xml exported via permalink doesn't contain priority.

Ok, I think I got it now and will try it out --> the "include filter files" feature should serve for my needs, but anyway I would need the prios exported

However should be noted that this feature must not be used to backup/restore FindBugs rules from/to Sonar (backup of Quality Profile must be used), because mapping of priorities with Sonar is not one to one (lossy):

  • Import (FindBugs Priority -> Sonar Priority)
    • 1 -> Blocker
    • 2 -> Major
    • 3 -> Info
  • Export (Sonar Priority -> FindBugs Priority)
    • Blocker, Critical -> 1
    • Major, Minor -> 2
    • Info -> 3

Reverted and reopened, because lead to regressions in reported violations in Sonar.
