      Description

      See discussion here: http://old.nabble.com/SonarIDE%3A-does-local-analysis-support-extension-rules--tt32503823.html#a32503823
It would be useful to see during local analysis in Eclipse violations of the extension rules deployed on Sonar server in SONAR_HOME/extensions/rules/(pmd|checkstyle).

I support this request for improvement as it would help us to fix project-specific bugs early and before they are delivered.

I could imagine that it's hard to copy the rules (in a jar-file) and their configuration (the nearby xml file) from the server's "extension" directory to the local client. As a work around one could ask the local client to specify a location where these rules extensions can be found on the local disk.

Works well but there is one limitation : the rule title is not displayed in the Violations view.

It's pretty easy to reproduce this issue with the following sonar checkstyle extension example : https://github.com/SonarSource/sonar-examples/tree/master/plugins/sonar-checkstyle-extension-plugin

I my feeling is correct, this limitation doesn't relate to Sonar Eclipse but to the Dry run mode and occurs because the checkstyle rule doesn't have any translation bundle. If this is the case, you can close this ticket and create a dedicated ticket in Sonar core.

Indeed this is a bug in Sonar dry run mode. Will be fixed soon.
