IMHO only removing the parameter was not the best solution. Indeed, when using an old configuration file with this parameter, we get a cryptic error message and the loading of the rules configuration file fails.
This should at least be documented in the FAQ. However, the best solution would be to ignore these uneeded tags and display a deprecation message in the sonar log file.
