Description

Install msysgit with the default settings. Launch Git Bash.

git clone http://github.com/rickyclarkson/maven-git-testcase.git

cd maven-git-testcase

mvn release:prepare

This problem appears to go away if I move to a directory without spaces in the name, e.g., c:\maven-git-testcase, use Linux, run mvn release:prepare from within IDEA, release a single-module project or use svn instead of git.

At the point the exception occurs, I printed out the contents of baseDirs, and found that the first was lowercase and the rest were uppercase. I changed the population of baseDirs to use .toLowerCase(Locale.ENGLISH) and got further, but found another problem: C:\uk-org-netvu\common\pom.xml is outside repository, which I think I can solve in maven-scm-plugin.

I'd like to change the component of this ticket to maven-release-plugin but I can't see a way of editing that.

Hello Ricky,

have you ever created an issue for the "is outside repository" error? I am using msysgit (1.7.8) as well and in a multimodule project the error is still coming up. MRELEASE-536 seems to be a different error. Not sure wether this a problem of

No, I haven't created an issue for it. I believe that once I started using cmd instead of msysgit for making releases, that this problem disappeared.
