Actually my problem with this plugin is already documented at :

http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MPJAR-37

but I created a new (duplicate) issue because the original one dates from August 2004.

To summarize :

  • is maven.jar.manifest.classpath.add really needed?
  • make jar plugin behaviour similar to e.g. ejb plugin behaviour
