Description

It would be a huge improvement if each report was written as as XML document before optionally rendering it. If you did that, then other plugins could use those XML reports, apply XSLT or whatever to generate their own version of a report. It would make the whole reporting thing much more flexible.

For html we have the maven-site-plugin, for pdf the maven-pdf-plugin. Maven-1 used to have a maven-xdoc-plugin. Isn't that what we actually want?
