the 1.1 release will introduce additional POM elements.
The one I know about is MAVEN-128

if you track maven-components/maven-model/maven.mdo you'll see the exact model. (3.0.0 is Maven 1.0, 3.1.0 is Maven 1.1, 4.0.0 is Maven2)
