Description
The map navigation buttons all look the same yet most are a modal switch and the others are action buttons. We need to separate the two kinds and add a visual cue for the modal state.
The 'zoom in,' zoom out,' 'pan,' 'get info' and 'select' buttons are modal---that is we can only be in one state or the other. Unfortunately, our buttons don't really show which is selected. Also, they should all be grouped together.
The 'zoom to extent' 'last zoom' 'next zoom' buttons are action buttons. They should therefore seem more button like and less like the others.
While we are at it, we should change the 'zoom out' from a tool to a button. It's much quicker to zoom out two steps and zoom back in than to try to assess what the 'zoom out' tool will do.
Simple semantic models for simple people like me.
