Description

I've spent quite a while trying to get a changelog report that wasn't blank using perforce.

It would be nice to have a sample pom.xml listed for each of the supported SCMs. That way I could know for sure it wasn't my setup and whether I'm experiencing a bug or not.

Hi Paul,

I can understand your frustration. Debugging SCM related events is not easy. I'm not convinced that providing working SCM setups is the right way to go though. Rather I would like to create a page devoted to understanding what might go wrong and how to find out that actually went wrong.

Topics for that page could be:

  • My changelog report is blank, but it shouldn't be
  • How do I know if there's a bug in the changelog plugin or if something is wrong with my SCM configuration
  • How can I debug the SCM command

OK perhaps it should be in the FAQ, but I posted on the user list twice and got no responses. I had seen someone ask a similar question in the archives, also without an answer.

What further confuses matters is there is also a changelog goal for the scm plugin, so I get the impression that the two plugins are related. Is there a relationship? (might add that to the FAQ too).

Is the changelog plugin know to work with perforce? I can properly get a list of changes I've had with the scm plugin so I would think the scm info is setup right.

I would love for the FAQ to cover the topics you mentioned Dennis. I figure a known working config for at least subversion (say on the plugin itself or something) would help a lot.

It's useful information, but "Please check your changelog plugin configuration." is not definitive. The link to your configuration helps.

The XML file is empty:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

Seriously I give up. I've already wasted pretty much a day on this. I've already resigned myself not to get the changelog plugin working with perforce.

I've added a final piece of information to the FAQ. This is all the advice I can think of.
I've staged the site at the same location, if you want to have a look at it.
