Cannot programmatically create regular expression /[\\x80]/n

In the expression "/#

{a}/n", apparently the "n" flag is ignored, while it should be honoured.

# jruby --1.9 -S irb
irb(main):001:0> a = '\\x80'
=> "\\x80"
irb(main):002:0> b = /(?:#{a}

)/n
=> /(?:[\x80])/
irb(main):003:0> c = /#

{a}

/n
RegexpError: (RegexpError) invalid multibyte escape: /[\x80]/

No work has yet been logged on this issue.
