Maybe worth creating the deb from the build directly in java?

http://vafer.org/projects/jdeb/howto.html

Permission settings and maven2 support coming soon.

I searched for a suitable maven deb plugin for jetty but, there is no suitable one, and the deb ant task is also not suitable for jetty, so I started creating a maven mojo plugin for jetty based. based on how the maven rpm package plugin is implemented

I assume this is related to the contrib/jetty-deb modules. Any chance someone could draft a README on using these? I simply ran Maven2 in these directories and it didn't seem to produce any artifacts. Is the Maven2 invocation expecting arguments?

The first cut of a debian packaging for jetty was released in jetty-6.1.6. Please open specific issues as necessary when they arise.
