Using range of Enums works only for enums created in Groovy and not for enums created in Java.

Feel free to test that I have the logic correct. Don't go overboard though as the implementation will move as per discussion on dev list. Leaving issue open for now until the code has moved to the Java 5 DGM class once that is in place.
