A lot of the documentation in the user guide and tutorials are quite out of date, and should either be updated or removed.

I have added warnings to all of the relevant pages which should allow this bug to not be relevant in the immediate term.

I have closed this bug and opened a more indefinate bug
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-888
to fix the docs over the longer term.

Adian asked this to be removed, he has created ~~GEOT-888~~ to set this as a target for 2.2.0 release.
