ERDAS image rotating 45 degrees.

Description

I spent the better part of two days trying to determine why these images are rotated 45 degrees counter-clockwise with no luck. I have many shapefiles from the same source that have the same SRS. The image files may be obtained from the following 2 links:
http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/spatialdatalibrary/sdl2/land_use_cover/2001/IFMAP_lp_landcover.exe
http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/spatialdatalibrary/sdl2/land_use_cover/2001/IFMAP_up_landcover.exe

I have also attached screenshoots.

If this isn't a bug I have no idea what else it could be.

Not only is it rotated....

This is the only bug stopping us from going with this application but as it stands I am going to have to start looking at other options.

Ciao Charles,
I forgot to report back to you. There is a problem with how gdal creates the undelrying CRS. You are using a projected crs based on the ND83 geographic crs, however gdal erroneously reports the axis order for the geographic crs as LAT,LON while it report the axis order for the porjected crs correctly as Lon,Lat. This introduces a swap of the axes, which gives you the visual effect you have seen.
I have fixed that by allowing users to override the gdal parsed crs using a prj file. I am attaching a screenshot as well as the corrected prj file. I will commit the fixes in a few days, along with a few more tests.

I have committed a fix for both gt 2.5.x and 2.6.x which basically allows us to provide a prj file to override internal metadata for crs and/or a world file to override the grid to world definition. Notice that in order to test the fix you'd have to create a sibling prj file with the correct crs definition as I attached to this jira request.

Thank you so much. I will start testing this as soon as I can figure out how to implement your fix. I'm very new to Open Source and from your response I think you have resolved the issue in GeoTools 2.5.x and 2.6.x which is wrapped in GeoServer 1.75. I had used the Windows installer to setup GeoServer so it may take a while for me to place the files in geoserver-1.7.x-latest-bin.zip.

It appears that the files available are from May 16th so your fix would not be included. Also, the trunk files are for 2.0. Any idea how often the nightly builds are made avaialible?

It appears that the build last night resolved the issue by placing the projection file in the coverage directory with the image file. I have attached a screenshot.
