Description
The GeoAPI working group at the OGC intends to write a draft of the GeoAPI 3.0 Specification to be submitted to the OGC for consideration. Depending on the feedback and discussion, that document may then be submitted, probably with modifications, for a vote to become an adopted standard of the consortium.
A GeoAPI session is planed at the meeting of the OGC technical committee in Boston on Wednesday 24th, 2009 from 15:00 to 16:00. The draft specification will be submitted to the attendees of that session who may suggest it proceed to a vote of the voting members of the technical committee. The draft must be ready before June 4th (the OGC deadline for consideration at the OGC meeting) and will be attached to this JIRA task.
During the process of writing the draft, a number of issues are being raised which need review or resolution. Where actions can be taken, they are created and added as sub-tasks to this task.
We expect, during this process, to review the metadata and referencing interfaces for their current conformance with the current revisions of ISO 19115 and 19111 specifications. The GeoAPI interfaces may need some minor updates and some contested interfaces might need to be moved into the "pending" module.
Changes should affect both versions 2.3 (which should gain @Deprecated tags) and version 3.0 where the deprecated elements will be removed.
