noun (f)
il.lusió

thanks in anticipation
gràcies d'avantmà (syn. thanks in advance)

Potser més usual, "gràcies per endavant".
També "gràcies de bestreta".

Jaume:
De fet, "avantmà" no existeix. "Gràcies per endavant" o "gràcies a la bestreta". Per altra part, això d'il- lusió no ho veig clar. Il- lusió pot tenir un sentit molt positiu, o també negatiu, de falses esperances. Jo posaria:

anticipation
n.
1. anticipació
2. expectació, il- lusió

At 10 o'clock last night I couldn't, for the life of me, think what the heck 'thanks in anticipation (or advance)' was in Catalan. The Spanish 'gracias de antemano' popped into my head and I think I just very awkwardly moved on from there to arrive at a half-assed attempt at 'gràcies d'avantmà' in Catalan. I looked this up in Google, found more than 100 examples and thought 'that'll do!' [blush]. Don't misunderstand me, I acknowledge 100% that 'avantmà' is wrong, it's just quite heartening to see that I wasn't the only one to do a lazy Spanish-Catalan translation and arrive at this answer!

As for 'expectació, il.lusió', I see what you mean Jaume. I will make sure to enter 'expectació' as well.
