Description
noun (m / f)
a wimp is a person who is physically weak and ( / or) lacks confidence and is not brave
You might describe someone as a wimp because they are afraid to do something but you might also call someone a wimp because they are physically weak.
to wimp out of doing something / to wimp out of something
(phrasal verb)
if you wimp out of doing something you do not do it because you are frightened. The important thing to note here, perhaps, is that if you accuse someone of 'wimping out' you are disapproving of their actions (or lack of). You do not feel sorry for them.
synonyms in British English ... Don't be such a wimp, don't be so feeble, don't be so pathetic.
I wonder if poruc comes anywhere near this?
