En català tenim el verb triar, que és el sinònim més popular de "escollir, elegir" (= to choose), que s'utilitza en un sentit semblant a "cull" però no per a animals sinó per a fruites, llegums, etc.
2 tr Separar d'una cosa les impureses que conté, sia garbellant-la, sia netejant-la amb les mans, etc. Triar mongetes, llenties, arròs.
