currently we have two entries: nin and nina.

nin
noun (m)
little boy / male child

nina
noun (f)
1. doll / dolly
2. little girl

I suggest we combine the two and mark the 'little boy / girl' meaning as dialectal.

nin
noun
1. [dial] (m) little boy
2. [dial] (f) little girl
3. [joguina] (f) doll / dolly

and add the following meaning:
4. (f) pupil

I came across the fourth meaning in a book last night and it threw me somewhat as I was only familiar with the first 3 meanings:
...uns ulls verds, amb les nines fosques, partides per una ratlla negra...

"Dark little girls? What? With a black line in the middle? Eh? Sorry? Hmmm, I guess 'nina' must have another meaning"

The most common form for the fourth meaning is "nineta".

I com diríem en anglès "ser la nina (o nineta) dels ulls d'algú)?

GDLC
