(I'm adding the 'rainbow lorikeet' as well because we have a bunch of them in the garden and they're fantastic. Like most Australian birds, it seems, they are not at all shy. If you are washing up in the kitchen they come right up to the window and peck on it very insistently with their beaks until you pay them some attention. I fully suspect that if you were to actually open the window they would come in and hop around the kitchen benches looking for food
