Description

noun (m)

A complete philistine who was amazed to learn this Catalan word and its origins found a similar word 'vernissage' which it would appear we use in English:

OALD:
vernissage
an occasion when a few invited people can look at paintings before they go on show to the public

A question to all you art buffs, do people actually talk about going to a 'vernissage' in English or would we perhaps use 'private showing' instead / as well?

I would use "a private view" for this.
