What might we translate this as in English?

Although I could only find two examples of 'calçar el mateix peu' on line (both from Avui), it does appear in the 'Refranyer temàtic' published on the Internet by Victor Pamies, so I guess it must exist?

It just seems to mean "to know what someone is like". In the examples, we know what her father's like, I know what the Wall Street Journal's like, and "calçar el mateix peu que algú is "to be like, to be the same as" - not everyone in the US is like Bush.

Nothing more colourful springs to mind. There is "tarred with the same brush" for the last one, but that is always negative. Is calçar el mateix peu que algú always a bad thing?
