Description

Lyndon Samson suggested on the Geronimo dev list that an rss feed for reporting build status would be a really great way to report build status.

A neat application of that feature would be the ability to include continuum data on a confluence page.

I've begun work on implementing this for our company. I will post a patch when finished. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out the plexus site building stuff, so if someone knowledgable could get in touch with me, I'd appreciate it.

This is ONE possible fix, not necessarily the best. It's hacky because it takes advantage of the fact that the resolver valve looks in the layout directory before the screens directory. I added a file called RSS.vm to the layout directory which just contains the xml header, and a file called RSS.vm to the screens directory, which contains the actual RSS XML.

The better fix would be for ViewContextPopulator to allow overriding the default layout on a per-view basis. However, since this is the only place (so far) in continuum where a non-standard layout is used, maybe that's not worth the effort.

I have created a basic RssNotifier implementation that writes a build.rss to /rss continuum webapp context folder. It extends AbstractContinuumNotifier.
I've modded the webapp appropriately.

Am i duplicating effort here, or should i submit a patch?

I've created a patch against the Maestro source that provides RSS feeds on a per-project and per-group basis. When will those changes be RI'd into the trunk (i.e. the switch from velocity to JSP)? I will submit my patch as soon as I can do it against Continuum proper rather than Maestro.

Not sure what you mean by RI'd, but Continuum trunk is already based on WW2/JSP. In fact, we don't have any active branches any more, just trunk.
