ditto other shell errors (possibly a win specific problem?)

eg
ERROR: M2_HOME is set to an invalid directory.
M2_HOME = /usr/local/maven-2.0-SNAPSHOT
Please set the M2_HOME variable in your environment to match the
location of the Maven installation

as long as continuum handles non-0 codes correctly, that'll do. No need to parse responses.

I think this specific error is because a the .bat file. I'll apply the same fix I made to the m1 version...

From what I can tell this is already the case. Unless you have some extra contitions to test for I'm going to close this with "won't fix".
